Out in the Community

As part of its standard to forge and maintain long-term, positive and proactive relationships with members of the community and be transparent about its operations and programs, OCWD board members and staff participate, regularly, at community events and speak before civic groups. Below are a few we participated in during January.

Second Vice President Philip Anthony joined Golden State Water Company General manager, Orange County District Ken Vecchiarelli, P.E. to present an Orange County water briefing to the Rotary Club of Cypress

  • Director Harry Sidhu and OCWD Principal Hydrogeologist Dave Mark teamed with City of Anaheim Public Utilities Engineering Manager Michael Moore to give a snapshot look at groundwater, drinking water conditions and solutions to the Rotary Club of Anaheim.
  • OCWD Executive Director of Planning and Natural Resources Greg Woodside provided an overview of Orange County's groundwater, the drought, the Groundwater Replenishment System and more to the Orange County Association of Environmental Professionals.
  • Former Board Member Vincent Sarmiento and OCWD General Manager Mike Markus joined representatives from the City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency and the State of California's Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to provide an update of Orange County's water supply and threats of groundwater contamination at a Delhi Neighborhood Association meeting.
  • OCWD Director Denis Bilodeau was moderator of the American Council of Engineering Companies, Orange County Chapter (ACEC) Water Bond Panel.
