First Vice President Cathy Green and Executive Director of Engineering, Planning
and Local Resources John Kennedy attended a Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce
luncheon where Director Green spoke about OCWD and Proposition 1.

Director Harry Sidhu and General Manager Mike Markus provided a presentation to
the Anaheim Public Utilities Board about OCWD's North Basin Groundwater Protection
Plan.

Director Steve Sheldon speaks before the Irvine City Council
Director Steve Sheldon gave a water supply briefing to the City of Irvine that included
information about the South Basin Groundwater Protection Plan.

Director Vincent Sarmiento, General Manager Mike Markus and City of Santa Ana Water
Resources Manager Nabil Saba gave a water supply briefing at the City of Santa Ana
that included information about the South Basin Groundwater Protection Plan.

Director Denis Bilodeau provided a presentation about Orange County's Groundwater
Replenishment System (GWRS) expansion and other capital improvement projects to the Orange
County Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers in Irvine.

General Manager Mike Markus spoke about the Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS)
and the Role of Monitoring in Public Health Protection at the International Potable
Reuse Conference in San Paulo, Brazil.

Assistant General Manager Mike Wehner provided a briefing on Water Quality and Human
Health and then moderated a series of breakout sessions on this topic at a potable
reuse research needs workshop for the State Water Resources Control Board Southern
California Coastal Water Research Project, the National Water Research Institute,
and the WateReuse Research Foundation.

OCWD hosted a community water briefing in Newport Beach. Director Steve Sheldon
and Principal Hydrogeologist David Bolin presented to the group about OCWD and its
groundwater cleanup projects.

Recharge Planning Manager Adam Hutchinson participated on a panel for an event hosted
by the Groundwater Foundation and the Southern Nevada Water Authority. It was titled
Community-based Groundwater Protection: A Formula for Success.
•
Chief Hydrogeologist Roy Herndon gave a presentation titled The Practical Application
of Science to New Groundwater Regulation, held at the Hydrology and the Law seminar
in Santa Monica.
•
Executive Director of Planning and Natural Resources Greg Woodside gave a presentation
at the Regional Water Quality Control Board meeting held in Loma Linda regarding
drought effects and water agency responses to them.
•
Supervising Environmental Specialist Pat Versluis provided a presentation about
OCWD and the Water Quality Department to the University of California, Irvine Careers
Course for students in the Environmental Science, Earth System Sciences, and related
fields.
