Out in the Community
As part of its standard to forge and maintain long-term, positive and proactive relationships with members of the community and be transparent about its operations and programs, OCWD board members and staff participate, regularly, at community events and speak before civic groups. Below are a few we participated in during February.
  • Director Philip Anthony joined Ken Vecchiarelli, P.E., General Manager, Orange County District, Golden State Water Company to provide a water supply briefing to the Kiwanis Club of Cypress.
  • Recharge Planning Manager Adam Hutchinson participated in a panel focusing on groundwater management at the 53rd Annual California Irrigation Institute Conference.
  • Director of Public Affairs Eleanor Torres provided a presentation to Mesa Water District's Water Issues Study Group.
  • Recharge Planning Manager Adam Hutchinson participated in a Groundwater Resources Association (GRA) of California webcast presenting examples of agencies already sustainably managing groundwater in California. This was part 3 of a series of webcasts being hosted by the GRA on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.
  • Director of Regulatory Affairs Jason Dadakis gave a presentation on GWRS water quality and participated in a panel discussion at a meeting of the San Diego Medical Society. The event was a part of the City's Pure Water San Diego public outreach program.
  • Recharge Planning Manager Adam Hutchinson moderated a panel discussion at the AGWA/AGWT annual conference titled Drought Response: Management Strategies for the Decades Ahead. Presenters included John Kennedy, OCWD Executive Director of Engineering, Planning and Local Resources.
  • Assistant General Manager Mike Wehner gave a presentation on water quality and public health research needs and participated in a workshop with the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board regarding water recycling and potable reuse.
