Orange County Water District (OCWD; the District) President Cathy Green was elected to serve as vice chair of Region 10
of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the
country. Beginning January 1, 2016, she will assume a two-year position as Region 10 vice chair and will also serve on
the statewide ACWA board of directors.
"I am honored to serve on ACWA's board and represent Orange County," said Green. "As California is in its fourth year of
a historic drought, we must keep planning and investing in our state's water future," she
added.
Green, along with six other elected board members, will represent Region 10 comprised of Orange and San Diego counties.
ACWA is made up of a total of 10 regions. Region 10 has a combined population of more than 6.2 million people and is home
to approximately 39 public water agencies that are ACWA members.
Formed in 1910, ACWA's 430 public agency members collectively are responsible for 90 percent of the water delivered
to cities, farms and businesses in California. Its mission is to assist its members in promoting the development, management
and reasonable beneficial use of good quality water at the lowest practical cost in an environmentally balanced manner.
